Christian Education

Children's Christian Education

We have plenty of opportunities for volunteers. Consider helping weekly, or even once a month since everybody has a busy schedule and is sometimes away for a weekend, we need plenty of helpers and substitutes. If your children have left home, it would be wonderful to share your life experience with our children. If you have any questions about Sunday School, or would like to volunteer, or are new and would like a campus tour before you visit on Sunday, please call Jill Chester, our Sunday School Director, at 407-869-8312.

Sunday School—Beginning Sunday, June 6 we will be rearranging our Sunday school schedule.  Sunday school will be from 9:15 to 10:15am for PreK – 5th grades.  Kids Club for ages 3 through 1st grade will be from 10:15 to 11:15am.  Grades 2nd through 5th will be attending the 10:30am service with their parents.  Our goal is to incorporate the Sunday school classes into one Christian Education hour between the two services.  There will be a nursery available from 8:00 a.m. through 12:00 p.m. in the church nursery.

There is a campus map, also available on the Welcome Table near the Church entrance.

Resurrection PreSchool: Fun and Learning for 2's and 3's.

Resurrection Preschool

provides both fun and learning for two and three year-old

children on our caring and

nurturing campus. With our small classes, our experienced

teachers are able to help each child experience the joy of learning.

We believe that it is through play that children learn basic skills for success in life. While playing, they learn problem solving, role identification, communication, social skills, and decision making. Each day is filled with hands-on experiences. Several times during the year, parents and special friends are invited to programs and picnics for the children.

We are a part of the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection, and the children learn simple prayers together with the kindnesses one would expect in any good church program. Many of our students “graduate” to the Pre-Kindergarten program at Sweetwater Episcopal Academy.

Two Year Old Class: Children must be two by August 31, 2009. This class meets 2 days, 3 days or 5 days from 8:30-12:30 or 8:30-2:30. The main focus of this class is to develop social skills and make new friends in a loving environment. Listening, sharing, and taking turns are all important tools for learning. Lessons are introduced through games and circle time activities.

Three Year Old Class: Children must be three by August 31, 2009. This class meets 2 days, 3 days or 5 days from 8:30-12:30 or 8:30-2:30. The emphasis is on making friends, developing social skills, and becoming independent. As the children's attention span increases and they begin to master their social skills, children are able to enjoy reading, writing and math readiness activities.

Parents may choose to enroll their child to attend from 8:30am to 12:30pm, or from 8:30am to 2:30pm. Contact Karen Gordon, Preschool Director, for more information and a brochure at 407-788-3704.

Sweetwater Epsicopal Academy

Sweetwater Episcopal Academy is an elementary school serving children from Pre-Kindergarten through Fifth Grade. S.E.A. offers a strong academic curriculum, motivating enrichment programs, small class sizes, and over 25 years of academic excellence.

All of that is offered within a safe, nurturing, and caring environment surrounded by Christian love, with a strong concern and respect for the background of each student as an individual. Our school’s goal is to fully prepare each child for his or her future educational, social, and spiritual life.

As a part of our educational philosophy, we strive to make Sweetwater Episcopal Academy "a kind zone" – a learning and loving environment where respect and responsibility are taught alongside the three R’s.

Sweetwater Episcopal Academy began as a small private pre-school in 1973 and added grades through the next few years. In 1983, it came under the wings of the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection as a part of the educational and outreach ministry of the church – where its philosophy and educational values were strengthened. Always a part of the respected National Association of Episcopal Schools, our religion classes and weekly chapel services are Christian in their orientation, while at the same time we respect the various religious backgrounds of each of our students and their families. Sweetwater Episcopal Academy prepares students well for some of the best private and public middle schools in the Orlando area. We strive to teach children to think and solve problems, and to write and speak effectively. For more information go directly to the extensive web site of Sweetwater Episcopal Academy.
