REV. SUZANNE BRUNO
DEACON

Born in Southern California, Deacon Susie had the blessing of also living in Canada, Colorado, Virginia, New York, Florida, North Carolina, and now back to Florida.
She attended Occidental College in Los Angeles and received her BA degree in Psychology with a minor in English, then went an extra year to earn her California Teaching Credential.  She met her husband Paul at Occidental; they have two children, both of whom, with their spouses and pets, live  in Orlando.
From January of 1986 to August of 2008, they lived in Longwood, attended Resurrection, and Deacon Susie taught at Sweetwater Episcopal Academy. She attended the Institute for Christian Studies for her seminary experience from 1990 to 1994 and was ordained to the Vocational Diaconate in 1993. Having taught 4th grade and Middle School English at SEA, she became the Deacon at ECR and the Religious Education teacher and Chaplain at the school.
It was time for a change, and in 2008 she and Paul moved to Charlotte, NC, where their daughter and her husband lived. During their ten years there, Deacon Susie was on the clergy staff of St. John’s Episcopal Church during their interim time and then for the next eight years on the staff of St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church in Waxhaw, NC. In August of 2019 at the time of her retirement, she and Paul returned to Longwood to be near their children, long time friends, and ECR, where she currently has the privilege of serving as Deacon once again.  For fun and relaxation Deacon Susie enjoys time with her family, nature and animals, especially dogs (of which they have 3), reading, puzzles and games, and seeing new places and doing new things.
